John Bercow: Ex-Commons Speaker found guilty of bullying staff
Former Commons Speaker John Bercow has been found guilty of bullying House of Commons staff by the Independent Expert Panel (IEP).
Mr Bercow is standing down as Commons Speaker on Thursday after 10 years in the job.
The IEP found that Mr Bercow had "repeatedly acted in a way that has caused a significant number of staff to feel undermined, humiliated, undermined and frightened" during his time as Speaker.
The panel also found that Mr Bercow had "created a culture of fear" in the House of Commons, which had led to a number of staff members leaving their jobs.
Mr Bercow has denied the allegations, but the IEP found that the evidence against him was "compelling".
The IEP's report has been welcomed by the House of Commons Commission, which has said that it will now consider the findings and take appropriate action.
Mr Bercow was Speaker of the House of Commons from 2009 to 2019 and presided over a turbulent period in British politics.
